'Slayers Finally Proven Human

After three consectutive games of pounding out an average of 18 runs a game, the 'Slayers bats cooled off in a 20-4 loss to the undefeated Etch Advengers. After holding close to the Avengers through three innings, the Avengers scored 12 runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.

The bright spot in the defeat was Mike Vannucci's 3 for 3 night, including a home-run, with two RBI. Scoops Maynard added a two-run homer in the first inning. Steve "Gallopin' Ghost" Leger was 1 for 1 with a run scored in his debut; also playing a fine defensive game.

The 'Slayers will certainly see the Avengers again in the play-offs and perhaps this game may be a preview of who will play for the Championship. If that is the case, the 'Slayers have much work to do to take down the Avengers.

The 'Slayers next game is next Tuesday at 5:30. It is rumored that the famed Lydia "One Woman Wrecking Crew" O'Neil will make a surprise comeback at this game.
