The INS softball team lost its first game of the season last night. The wizards drop to 3-1 after losing 16-14 to a now 2-2 Body Men. Highlights include an impressive performance from Ritch Williams, hitting 2-4 with an inside the park home run and a great diving play (actually a falling play) in center field. Veteran starter Mike Hess dropped to 1-1 with the loss after striking out 2, walking several, and giving up 16 runs over 6 innings (most of which were unearned). Defense committed errors in all but 1 inning including 2 from Will Cox and Mike Sanchez, and 1 from Scott Armentrout. The game starting off in a positive way as INS scored 9 runs and batted 13 hitters in the bottom of the first inning. But the Body Men battled back scoring 3 in the 2nd and 3rd innings. With the scored tied in the fifth inning, Body Men blasted out 5 runs off of 2 errors and 6 hits making the score 11-16. INS attempted another late inning come back scoring 3 in the bottom of the 5th but it wasn't enough for this injury slowed team. No games are scheduled for next week. INS plays its next game April 29 at 9:30 against BMC.
